Platrr

A cafe discovery and food journaling app, currently in development.

Eating out has a loop. Platrr follows all of it.

You pick somewhere to go, you remember what was good, and you tell a few people about it. Most apps handle one of those three and hand the rest to a review score from strangers.

Platrr keeps discovery, your own record and your recommendations in one place, and keeps the recommendations attached to people you actually know.

What it does

Six things make up the app. They are built around one idea: a record of where you have eaten is more useful than a rating out of five.

How people use it

Finding a cafe

Filters for mood, cuisine and area, plus what is near you right now. Discovery stays personal, not promotional.

Keeping a food journal

Visits and dishes become a private record: where you went, what you ordered, what deserved a second round.

Sharing with friends

Taste Rooms keep suggestions inside chosen circles, so a tip always comes from someone you know.

For cafe owners

Verified logging and the Nominee Cafe programme give independent cafes an honest route to nearby guests.

Common questions

Is Platrr available to download?

Not yet. Platrr is in development and is being tested with a small group of cafes and early users in Ahmedabad. When it is released it will be published on Google Play by YBKM Tech Ventures LLP.

What does it cost?

The core app is free to use. A premium tier is planned, and if anything about that changes we will say so here before it ships.

Which cities does it cover?

Ahmedabad first. We would rather cover one city properly than cover many badly, so new cities will be added once the cafe data in the current city holds up.

Do I need an account?

Yes, to log visits and dishes, keep lists and take part in Taste Rooms. You can delete your account and the data attached to it at any time. See deleting your account.

What is a verified member?

A profile that has completed identity verification in the app. Verification is optional and is there so recommendations come from real people rather than throwaway accounts. What we collect during verification is described in the Platrr privacy policy.
